The Lies of Lent

The Lies of LentThis Sunday, March 3rd, we will launch a new 3 week series entitled "The Lies of Lent." As many of you know, Lent is the span of time in the church calendar that starts with Ash Wednesday and ends with Easter Sunday. Ash Wednesday commemorates the beginning of Jesus’ 40-day fasting and temptation in the desert, and Easter Sunday commemorates Jesus’ resurrection from the grave after his crucifixion.

The intent of the Lent season is to spend intentional time doing self-examination and self-reflection so that we can more clearly hear both the lies of the evil one and the call of our Heavenly Father, received through what Jesus did for us Good Friday through Easter Sunday.

All 3 weeks will focus on Genesis chapters 3-4. The word ‘Genesis’ has the same etymological roots as the word ‘genes.’  Genesis is the story of our spiritual genetics, and everything that happens after Genesis is just history repeating itself.  You and I each have a set of spiritual genes that affect the way we understand faith and relate to the presence of God.

So let's dive deep over these next 3 weeks and expose the lies that hold us back and discover the truth that sets us free.  See you there!
