Shumeca Pickett serves as an Elder, inspired by River City’s hope and intentional effort to confront the lie of white supremacy and to seek transformation in the city of Chicago. Shumeca is a fourth generation Chicagoan; her family arrived in this city during the Black Migration in the 1960s, and has deep roots on the West Side.
Shumeca finds great joy with her family, and her friends who are like family. She loves deep (and hilarious) conversation with loved ones, enjoying Chicago, and exploring the world. Shumeca brings dynamic and Christ-centered leadership to River City’s work on race, in alignment with her broader work in anti-racist consulting.
