Jennifer Tyus-Baker

Kid City Director

Jennifer is a lifelong west side Chicagoan. Jennifer was drawn to working with children from an early age – in high school she began to prepare for a career as a pediatrician, before eventually moving into education instead. Jennifer earned both a Master’s in Educational Leadership, as well as Arts within Education, and used all that she learned there within the Chicago Public School system, serving within the same west side neighborhoods where she had grown up in.

After serving 19 years within CPS Jennifer felt God calling her into vocational ministry. She began by working as an educational mentor at R CITY community development center, and then took on the role of Director of Kid City at River City in spring of 2003.

Jennifer is an artist at heart, and believes deeply in the creative arts as a way that God speaks to children, youth, and adults of every background. She is married to Sam, and is the proud mother of Nole and Leilani.
