While the outdoor space next to our church building is now fully transformed and in use, we continue to fundraise to ensure the ownership and sustainability of the property for generations to come. The mortgage loan requires three balloon payments, the first of which was paid in 2024. We have $225,000 remaining over the next two years.

THE STORY

After River City Community Church purchased, renovated, and moved into our building on Grand Avenue in 2014, we began to dream of creating more than just a place to gather on Sundays. We envisioned a safe, vibrant outdoor space where children could play, families could connect, and neighbors could relax—right here in West Humboldt Park, where such spaces are rare and deeply needed.

In 2023, that dream took a giant leap forward. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and a strong partnership with R CITY Community Development Center, the time was finally right to purchase the property next door. By mid-2024, with a community-developed design plan and the tireless work of countless volunteers, the property was transformed from a used car lot into a beautiful playground, increased programming space for RCity, and a safe gathering place for our neighborhood community.
