Sunday Service @10a Name Tags at River City
We invite you to write your name & "the importance of community" on a name tag as you arrive to church in the morning. There will be a table as you walk in to grab a name tag and let folks know "the importance of community." This is in an effort to further connect as a body and make sure we know one another by name! Bonus points: introduce yourself to one person in the congregation who you've wanted to meet, but haven't had the chance to yet

RIVER CITY'S ELDER CORNER
Here at River City we are proud members of the Humboldt Park community in beautiful Chicago, Illinois. Our location isn’t incidental - it’s intentional and integral to who we are as a body of followers of Jesus. We are here because we know that God loves our community and we have made a commitment to be here for the long haul. The narrative of God’s work in creation given to us in scripture opens in a garden. The image of a garden holds significance as a place of life, abundance, and peace. In contrast, the church in America has not always viewed cities as a place where God also expresses his creation and beauty. But the biblical narrative shows us that sin occurs wherever we are. And God‘s grace and love are always there bringing life and making things new.

The biblical narrative ends with God bringing the garden into the city - a heavenly city where there are no more tears and no more separation from God or from one another. That is the new creation. As we gather on Grand Avenue, we are declaring our faith in the goodness of God and of this place and the people who live here. And we are exercising radical trust that God sees us and is with us - regardless of who may be against us and communities like ours.

Peace to each of you,
Elder Sally

Building Together Campaign As we re-launched our Building Together campaign to cover the cost of owning the space, it meant so much to see everyone gathering in the very place our R CITY kids get to enjoy almost every day. Watching families share a meal, kids laughing and playing volleyball, and our community coming alive in that space was truly heartwarming.

We believe this space is holy ground—a gift for our church family and our neighborhood, now and for generations to come. Would you prayerfully consider giving to the Building Together fund and partnering with us to secure this sacred space for years ahead?
